Getting ready for sun!

It feels like so long since we have had a minute to sit down and write! The good news is that everyone is doing great. Lucy and JL were in Michigan with my family while Mike and I were in Kenya. The day after we got back, I flew back to Michigan, picked the kids up and we went on a cruise to Alaska- pictures coming. Both trips were amazing- Africa and Alaska.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about our Disney Cruise- the kids AND adults had a great time and now we are back in Seattle. JL is back in school and adjusting well and Lucy is back with Sifu and also adjusting well.

Lucy is walking!!! She has been cruising and taking steps for over a month, but now she is taking 8-10 steps without falling. She usually falls due to fear of falling- if that makes sense. Mike thinks that it took her a bit longer to walk because she is so chubby. She eats A LOT. We don't really give her anything special- just cut up pieces of whatever we eat. She and JL eat lots of veges and meat. Both are drinking whole milk since Mike thinks JL is getting thinner. He is really tall- the tallest in his class!

Lucy is also very cuddly and cute- she loves to give kisses and hugs. She loves to read books and bother her brother. She doesn't seem to have the same need to line things up as JL does. She will read books upside down. Loves to dance and listen to music. She is sleep from 7pm-6am and takes a 2hr nap during the day. Her favorite foods are avocado, blueberries, meat, cheese- well actually, she eats everything. The quantity of food she is able to eat is sometimes alarming and we have to actively stop feeding her. She's got a belly, but during her one year visit was only 75% for height and weight. Kind if falling off the 99% curve. No worries.

JL is speaking excellent Chinese and English. Spanish with papi, but not as much since he doesn't get to see Mike as much and there are many more Chinese and English speakers around him. He can be very difficult sometimes and stubborn, but I kind of like that. Mikel is the disciplinarian which is a surprise. He is totally into Cars and his YaQueen cars. Mikel has him watching all of the Disney movies- sometimes I don't know if its for JL or for Mikel.... At school, he has lots of friends and is very good at sharing even now with Lucy! However, there are certain things he is very protective of including his cars. He seems to be eating less than when he was younger, but can take down a good size piece of salmon and lots of broccoli- a favorite meal. They don't seem to be too picky about fruit, but both rejected brussel sprouts. They did like Kale. Otherwise beans are always a go. Still not potty trained though he knows EXACTLY where and what he is supposed to do. Mikel gives him pressure, but I know he will just figure it out and do it on his own one day. He sits on the toilet at school. Sleeps well from 7-8pm to 6am as well. 1-2hr nap during the day. Very fussy if he doesn't nap.

It amazes me that a 2yr old can reason. He tries to argue with me. It cracks me up. He is still a very sweet boy and loves hugs and cuddles. I hope that never changes with my kids. He continues to line things up and now even makes patterns with colors and different configurations- V's and alternating shapes and colors. It's amazing to watch. Loves puzzles and reading. The great part is he can play on his own for a long time where as Lucy often wants to be held. I do have to say things are slowly getting easier.

Life is good.
